Conférence PHP Québec, PC4P on AdoDB-website Just two small items, firstly PC4P is available on the CDrom accompanying the Proceedings-DVD from the Conférence PHP Québec 2003. They were so kind and informed me of this some days ago, with a pointer to the logo on the lower right... nice, eh? Second thing is a humorous mentioning in an article on behalf of the developer of AdoDB, a well known DB abstraction layer. Apparently the author was looking for a read-only document-format with an easy API and PC4P as a PDFlib-offspin hit right on the spot... (being OpenSource was helpful, too) Thanks to Christian Pelczarski for his plug and pointing me to this article ;-) |

Status (again), Linuxtag Okay, 5 months have passed, my last exam was 3 weeks ago - I passed it, thank god - and so you might ask, why the hell isn't development starting up again? I got a few feature-requests in the past weeks and months, so if I'd have the time, I could hack merrily away... but as you might've already guessed, my time is still filled with university stuff, as I'm preparing myself for writing my diploma :-P I'm afraid I was too optimistic regarding my spare-time. So if you're not coming up with a serious bug which needs immediate fixing, I won't be able to touch the code. I'm also inclined to suspend the development until PHP5 gets out, because as PC4P is highly OO-oriented we will see some drastic improvements in that area, and maybe this would also solve the memory consumption, which is an annoyance to some of you. Well, maybe you could give me some feedback on that thought ;-) Another news-item is my recurring appearance at the PHP-booth during the Linuxtag in Karlsruhe, Germany (July 10-13), where I will again be present as contactperson. If you happen to visit the exhibition, please stop by and say hello, and maybe you convince me in person to do some development ;-) |

What's the status? Well, frankly it hasn't changed very much. As I shifted my priorities to my studies, the current developent of PC4P has stopped effectively and won't advance till the beginning of May. I've finished two of my four oral exams, the next is on March 11th and the last will be around the end of April, before I'll start writing my diploma thesis. By then I'll be able to implement new features, but in the meantime I'll be only available for answering mails and posts. Sorry :-( As a side note: I've generated a PGP/GnuPG Key to use with my pc4p.net-address. Please feel free to use it when getting in contact with me. |
